Knavery formed in the spring of 2017 through rather unexpected circumstances. Three of the founding members Austin, Kyle, and Alex, had previously worked together in local pop punk group based out of Springfield. While, complications lead them to separate from the group, it only furthered their desire to create music together. The trio decided to spend their newly found free time forming Huge Face Productions, recording local musicians including rock act Beesly. Through a stroke of chance, the studio was contacted by Grace Hawson looking to gain help recording a song for a class project. Grace’s lyrical ideas, combined with the trio's instrumental writing style, lead to the creation of the song “KARMA”. Grace’s singing and songwriting talent was immediately apparent. After finishing the session, the trio suggested that they make the project more than just a school assignment. Adding Grace to the line up, Knavery instantly went on the search for a well versed drummer to fit their style. Receiving many applications for the position, the band ultimately decided on Austin’s good friend and old band mate from High 5 Riot, Sean McGrath. The chemistry with Sean and the rest of the group was obvious from their first session together. With the final line up in place, the band pooled together their individual abilities and hit the studio in May of 2017.
